Laura Nagy
Lawyer
Laura joined the Visionary Law team in December 2021 to focus mostly on family law, after spending the first few years of her practice in the courtroom as a criminal defence lawyer. Born and raised in Montreal as a second-generation immigrant, Laura studied law in Ottawa before moving to Winnipeg, where she confirmed her interest in advocating for the rights of minorities and vulnerable individuals. Laura prides herself in her ability to provide legal services in both French and English and she believes that a good lawyer is always prepared for Court and reasonable in negotiations, courteous with other counsel and respectful with others, and doing their best to provide their clients with compassionate and quality representation. Her interest in family law stems from a desire to help people going through an impactful time in their life to provide them with the necessary tools to make educated and well-reasoned decisions, whether for themselves or their family. Laura brings unique perspectives with her background in criminal defence, especially for cases involving domestic violence, her experience with child protection cases involving CFS, having worked as a court clerk, and sitting on the Mental Health Review Board. Laura is involved in professional organizations and volunteers her services with community legal education organizations, as she strongly believes in access to justice. Her involvement with St. Boniface Street Links has been her favourite way to give back to the community since moving to Winnipeg, and she regularly volunteers her time with the Association des juristes d’expression francaise du Manitoba and Info Justice.
When Laura is not in court, writing a brief or doing some light case law reading, she is likely spending time with the cutest dog in the world, staying active, or talking to her plants.
My child support case was open in June 2016. It was very complicated because both the Canadian Law and International Law were involved. My lawyer Nikki A. Evans had to work with more than 400 sheets of evidence. She had to go to court with a big wheel suitcase full of my documents. Before her, the case was conducted by three other lawyers who either made a lot of errors or did nothing and only wasted precious time. After those three lawyers’ failed work, Nikki A. Evans actually had to start my case from scratch when I first approached her in 2019. I am happy that I have found her. She is a very intelligent and competent lawyer, a professional of the highest degree, capable of solving the most difficult legal problems in the interests of her client. She is a very sweet, kind, and friendly person with whom it is such a pleasure to communicate.
My lawyer was always in touch, quickly and competently answered all my emails and questions, and spoke flawlessly at court hearings. At one of the hearings, the judge highlighted the excellent work of my lawyer and her boss, which is the best evaluation. Thanks to my own account on the company's website, I could see all my case documents. At the same time, I always knew precisely for what specific work I was paying; I received detailed reports along with each invoice from my lawyer. The work is really well done.
My lawyer won the case in court with the best result for me and my children. The court transferred my ex-husband's real estate ownership under my name to pay off his debt to me and my children. I am very happy and endlessly grateful to my lawyer Nikki and her boss Lillian for the work done. I consider the company Visionary Low to be the best choice for any family law issue.
